Long story short. My name is Milan Soos, I studied photography at Pratt Manhattan in New York and at MUOSZ School of Journalism in Budapest. My freelance career started as a photojournalist for various national newspapers in Budapest, whilst attending the Sociology Faculty at ELTE University. I quickly established myself in a vibrant photography scene and had daily assignments covering politics, social issues, and culture. In 2006 I moved to London to pursue further studies at the University of Westminster Photographic Arts class. During those years I was exposed to environmentalism and a strong climate movement around SOAS, resulting in a 10-year tour of activism, permaculture gardening, and a sense of unease about just carrying on as a photographer.
A tragic story of a costa rican mosquito bite brought me back to Europe for a 6-month re-think that ultimately led me back to my original profession, and in 2016 I re-ignited my photography business. This time I started out as a light assistant at fashion, corporate, and editorial shoots. Working in a team fits me well, creative lighting is my strong suit.
My photography is characterized by tight compositions and an eager eye for detail. My personal works tend to include a defined political stance, while my commercial assignments range from portraits to architecture, food, and editorial.
Im based in Munich Germany, with a second leg in Berlin.
